The Roncali Lab develops quantitative methods for nuclear imaging and therapy, with an emphasis on new technology for positron emission tomography (PET) and dosimetry for radionuclide therapy.

Dr. Roncali’s group develops in silico models of radiation detectors and uses these models to advance the understanding of Cerenkov light-based detectors, with to develop ultra-fast detectors for time-of-flight PET.

The lab also develops quantitative dosimetry for radionuclide therapy. Projects include treatment-planning algorithms for Y-90 microspheres by modeling the microsphere transport in the liver, and quantitative imaging for radionuclide therapy. This research aims at improving cancer patient outcome and advancing cancer research through personalized medicine.
