Luqi Wang has been awarded a 2022 Quantum Technologies Initiative Scholarship from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Antennas and Propagation Society, or IEEE AP-S. The $5,000 award from the AP-S Graduate Fellowship Program recognizes Wang’s demonstrated promise and interest in engineering electromagnetics with a focus on quantum technologies.
Wang is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Applied Micro/Nano Electromagnetics Research Laboratory led by Professor J. Sebastian Gomez-Diaz. The focus of Wang’s research is to develop terahertz and far-infrared sources based on Cherenkov radiation in drift-biased artificial media.
“He has tremendous potential to contribute and potentially transform the fields of nanotechnology, metamaterials and terahertz science and technology,” Gomez-Diaz said.
Wang’s scholarship award was announced in the December 2022 issue of the society’s magazine.
