Unit 18 Lecturer Recruitment: Principles of Device Physics
Position description
The ECE Department at UC Davis invites applications for a Lecturer position to teach Principles of Device Physics I, a foundational course covering the essential concepts in Semiconductor Device Physics. This in-person course provides a comprehensive understanding of the physics underlying semiconductor devices, which is crucial for students pursuing careers in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, materials science, and related fields.
Position Requirements: Applicants must be able to teach Principles of Device Physics I with a strong emphasis on the basics of semiconductor device physics. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of semiconductor materials, electronic transport, junction behavior, and the operation of fundamental devices such as diodes, MOSFETs, and bipolar transistors. The candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality lectures, develop course materials, assess student performance, and provide guidance to students in their understanding of complex concepts.

Responsibilities:
Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions covering all course topics. Prepare and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and exams. Provide timely feedback and assess student performance through grading and evaluations. Hold regular office hours to assist students with course content.
Instruction will be on campus/in person instruction.
Positions are typically part-time. Instructors teaching a course with three hours of lecture per week will normally be appointed at 33% time during the quarter; exact percentages depend on contact hours and other assigned duties.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start):
Demonstrated expertise in the areas of semiconductor device physics, electronic materials, or related fields.
Evidence of teaching excellence or potential commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to engage and inspire students.
Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position):
Prior teaching experience at the university level is preferred.
