Prof. Jeremy Munday Elected as OSA Fellow

The ECE Department would like to congratulate Professor Jeremy Munday upon his election as OSA Fellow. Prof. Munday, one of our newest faculty members, graduated with a PhD in Physics from Harvard and completed his postdoctoral studies at CalTech. His expertise lies in the realm of optics, photonics, and thermodynamics of fundamental solar energy conversion processes. This distinction as OSA Fellow highlights Prof. Munday’s optics research contributions spanning a decade, joining 2,500 acclaimed members. According to the official OSA website,”These members have served with distinction in the advancement of optics and photonics through distinguished contributions to education, research, engineering, business and society.” His election opens a whole new set of opportunities within optics research.

We asked Prof. Munday what being an OSA Fellow entails and means to his career moving forward, and he responded, “Being named as a Fellow of the Optical Society of America is a great honor and an important step in my career. My election as Fellow is a result of contributions over the last decade to optical detectors and energy converters using nanophotonic concepts.”

Here at ECE we look forward to the innovations and prestige that Prof. Munday will bring to us, as he “looks forward to expanding his research directions at UC Davis by taking advantage of all of the resources and specialties throughout the university, as well as collaborating with new colleagues here and throughout the UC system.”
